About Patterns of Identity: Textiles
in Aotearoa (POI) |
| The
Patterns of Identity: Textiles in Aotearoa (POI) research project originates
from the School of Art and Design at Auckland University of Technology.
It has been developed in association with Auckland
War Memorial Museum and was first launched at the Museum in October of
1999. The website documents
textiles in New Zealand with a particular interest in fabric printing.
It includes profiles
of a selection of individual textile artists and designers as well as
textile projects in education and the
community. It also includes contemporary
Maori and Pacific
textile artists and groups. It provides a resource
for teachers, students, artists, and individuals interested in textiles
and new content is added regularly.
There are extensive image galleries of printed shirts and t-shirts as well as a selection of printed textiles from the Auckland War Memorial Museum Applied Arts collection. The textile image archive was created early in 2001 and allows visitors to the site to search for more detailed information about individual textile works. New content will be added to the archive in the future. Angela Fraser, POI Research Team, 2002 |
