Arapuni Banner ~ Community ~ Patterns of Identity, Textiles in Aotearoa, New Zealand

This project was facilitated by Flying Colours Community bannermakers Barbara Joseph and Nora West in the town of Arapuni in the Waikato.

A Waikato community arts initiative organised by Bridget Lloyd to celebrate the transfer of the Arapuni hall from Electricorp to the community, this banner was designed and printed entirely on site in two days by local volunteers.

Children and parents worked together on the Sunday and all the teachers and children from the Arapuni primary school were involved on the Monday.

The banner depicts local landmarks - the swingbridge, the river, the power station and the school.
