This project was part
of a series of workshops held in conjunction with the"Genghis Khan" exhibition
at Auckland Museum.
Inspired by the contemporary
textile work of Mongol culture and the life of Genghis Khan, children
drew dragons and imaginary creatures to decorate "personal hangings"
and a gilded banner using the colours of the clothes and dwellings depicted
in the exhibition.
The workshop was conducted
by Barbara Joseph in
conjunction with the education department of Auckland War Memorial Museum
in June 1996.
The banner measures 1 x 2.50 metres
and is made of textile ink on cotton duck canvas.
