Groups from Auckland schools came to Manurewa Botanical Gardens in Auckland to spend a day drawing, printing and painting the displays of New Zealand Native plants and African plants.

Three banners were made with three different school groups as well as hangings and t-shirts.

The banner illustrated was made by a class from Royal Oak Primary School with teacher Noeline Ritson and artist Barbara Joseph.

This was part of a series of " Art in the Park" workshops organised by Auckland Regional Authority Parks Department and Roger Hardie and Jeanette Bishop of the Arts Advisory to Schools Service. They took place in the summer of 1996/1997.
